Q1. How can we develop CDM project in Sri Lanka ?

Q2. Does anyone support our CDM project development ?

A2. A member of staff from Designated National Authority, under Climate Change Division of Ministry of Environment are pleased to support in some extent (consultation regarding eligibility, procedure, PIN etc).

Q3. Are there any CDM consultant available in Sri Lanka ?

A3) Yes We can provide list of name & contact of recognized local CDM consultant for your reference.

Q4. What is the cost for CDM development ?

A4) It is depend on the case. However most of the project proponent are requested to pay for 1) preparation of Project Design Document (PDD) to CDM consultant, Validation Fee to Designated Operational Entities (DOE) and verification fee to DOE other than cost & expenses for their own preparation and operation.

Q5. How can we find buyers for our Certified Emission Reduction (CER) ?

A5) There are some buyers in the market. So you can contact any of them directly or Sri Lankan government has already formed up Sri Lankan Carbon Fund (SLCF) with purpose of promote CDM project in Sri Lanka and facilitate CER deals among the project proponents in Sri Lanka and International Buyers.

Q6. We expect small quantity of GHG emission from our planned project and concern about economically feasibility. Are there any way to make it feasible to resister as CDM project at UNFCCC ?

A6) There are two methodologies might be considered for the case above. One is small scale bundling CDM project and the another is programmatic CDM. For further information, please refer to Small Scale Bundling CDM project and Programmatic CDM in CDM.

Q8. Are there any financing schemes available for development of CDM projects ?

A8) There are no specific schemes financing schemes available for CDM projects in Sri Lanka. However there are carbon funds attached to international organizations such as ADB and World Nank which provides financial assistances for development of project documentation and validation of CDM projects.
